Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR)
EMCORE’s prototype Portable Solar Rechargeable Battery Module features integrated power conditioning, regulating, charging and power path management circuitry. It is shown here in a compact, handheld form-factor designed for recharging batteries used in military field operations.
 
In this form, called the Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR) it is designed to support soldiers in the field with real-time recharging of batteries. This can supplement, or potentially replace portions of large banks of battery chargers at base locations and minimize the disposal of discharged batteries, thereby reducing the battery cost of military operations.

Based on EMCORE's High-Efficiency Solar Cell Technology EMCORE’s Portable Solar Rechargeable Battery technology incorporates the world’s highest-efficiency and most power-dense solar cells and can deliver power for hours from only a few minutes of direct sunlight.

Customizeable for Specific Applications
The form-factor shown here is one application of EMCORE’s high-efficiency solar for military use. Because EMCORE’s solar cells are so lightweight and flexible, they can be laminated onto a variety of surfaces, making many other potential military, homeland security and commercial applications possible.
